February was filled with love and parties, but there were a few standouts for me. Beloved Philly promoter Making Time threw their annual ValenTime’s event and it was one of the best curated events I’ve ever gone to. QRTR, Ayesha, JEWELSSEA and Nick León were so incredible, it was hard to choose a room to stay in half the time.
I also went to a few Nowadays Nonstops. My boyfriend loves drum n bass so we made the morning trek to Ridgewood at 7AM to see Sully and he—as usual—didn’t disappoint. I don’t remember seeing that many people I knew in a single room at once in a very long time. Suzi AnaLogue and Zaida Zane blew me away the following week for dweller, reminding me that women really are superior.
Toward the end of the month, I stumbled upon a DJ named mui mui playing at Elsewhere Loft. I’ll rarely say “I would play this” so many times in one night, but it was even better that the selector in question was an Asian woman.
I was also invited to a Mach-Hommy listening party, but I wrote about that in depth here.
