INVITE: 12 July 2024 ✮ Mood Ring
[HK014] Jae JBW / ARCHANGEL / Oak City Slums b2b D3NIM / Dara Genesis / LeCamille / Wavy Oasis
Hi bbs,
I hope everyone’s doing okay and that you all had a good weekend.
It’s already halfway through 2024 and I feel like HEADS KNOW has done so little yet so much. Some positives: We produced our first full venue takeover at Paragon, we presented a showcase as part of Scenario 2024’s inaugural festival and conference in LA and we packed out Elsewhere’s Loft for Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair’s NYC tour stop. To me, throwing parties isn’t just about the live music experience—it’s also about honoring music’s history, contributing to the scene today and working toward building a better future.
I’ll be honest, this year has been hard on me. Earlier this year, my business partner announced her decision to step away from the music industry—which I fully support—so I’ve been running HEADS KNOW alone since April. Around the same time, I left my position at RA (a role I had been working toward my whole life) for a corporate job with benefits and better pay. I didn’t realize how heartbroken I’d be about quitting, but I know it’s for the best for me and for HEADS KNOW in the long run. Being able to do this was unsustainable while living paycheck to paycheck.
With that being said, our next party is coming up next month and it’ll be our debut at one of Bushwick’s cutest clubs: Mood Ring. On July 12th, Jukebouncewerk co-founder Jae JBW will show everyone how LA keeps up with 160. Also from LA, Dance Maniac’s Oak City Slums is returning to our programming (with a special back-to-back with New Jersey’s finest: No Vista founder D3NIM) and Dara Genesis is taking a break from being the West Coast’s resident bass baddie to spin a set. From Toronto, genre hopper Wavy Oasis is expected to deliver an hour of nonstop big blends. Repping NYC, we’re bringing back HEADS KNOW all-stars: Body Hack organizer ARCHANGEL and Mad Chapel resident LeCamille.
In the spirit of transparency, the only money we’ll see from this event is the money we make from pre-sale tickets. Any door sales aren’t going to us, so if you could get one ahead of time, it’ll help cover the costs of bringing out these incredible artists. If you can’t afford one, even just hitting “interested” on the event page is helpful!
Thank you for supporting me and HEADS KNOW in the ways you can and thank you for giving me the space to be open and honest.
See you on the dancefloor,
Arielle
